Go Nautical

Wearing nautical prints and styles doesn’t have to mean tiny jumpers, capris and tanks. If you’re looking to incorporate a nautical vibe to your outfit without showing 36 inches of leg, invest in a few basic pieces, and go from there. The most common nautical style incorporates stripes; red, white and blue color combinations always [...]

Fashion Week, Fall 2010: NY, Days 7, 8

Wednesday/Thursday: Saw lace, cutouts, a little flash back to the ’90s. More color, more animal, lots of belts, statement necklaces, glitter, and solids. I liked a few pieces from the likes of: Brian Reyes, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Isaac Mizarahi, and pretty much everything Naeem Khan pushed down the runway. (All images credited to: Getty Images)

Fashion Week, Fall 2010: NY, Days 5, 6

Monday/Tuesdday: Floral and safari prints showed up on the runways Monday and Tuesday along with a touch of metallic, and more textured fabrics. Streamlined cuts were still prominent, though some geometric, and wrap styles also debuted this week. What caught my eye: Jill Stuart, Tadashi Shoji, Tibi, Elie Tahari, Vera Wang. Fashion Week, Fall 2010: NY, Weekend

Weekend recap: Metallics make me smile, neutral color palette remains prominent. A few splashes of color seen in Diane Von Furstenberg’s collection, but even the designer known for her beautiful prints kept her usual shouts of color to a whisper. I liked: Rebecca Taylor, Prabal Gurung, Arise Magazine African Collective – Part III, Tony Cohen, [...]

Fashion Week, Fall 2010: NY, Day 2

The neutral color palette dominated the runway again on Day 2 in New York. Some graphic prints, a few bursts of color, mostly clean lines. Was expecting more from Nicole Miller, and overall, today was kind of, Eh. A few that stood out: VENEXIANA, Project Runway, Fashion for Relief (for Haiti) (All images credited to: [...]

Fashion Week, Fall 2010: NY, Day 1

Today was all about the neutral color palette. Drapey, sheer, and sparkly fabrics. Some of my favorites: BCBGMAXAZRIA, Richard Chai, Ports 1961, Mackage, Toni Maticevski. (All photos credited to: Getty Images)

Simply Put, Sometimes Things Are Black and White

If you want to wear a trend that never goes out of style, think: the tonal disparity of black and white. It’s a classic color combination that can never go wrong on anyone, any time, at any age. Ever. It even looks fab on animals. Like, the ones that are alive. I’m not sure how [...]
