Six months

six months

My dear Pippen,

Today you are six months old. This month has been peppered with some tough days and nights as you continue to teeth but this month has also brought more laughter as your personality continues to develop. You have a very sweet nature (like Daddy) and are curious and friendly, which I like to think you got from me.

You love “pappoos” (kisses) and even when you wake up at night from the pain of cutting teeth a little peck on the cheek always puts a smile on your face.  I’ve been reading to you for a few months now, but this month you started to show more of an interest in books. You reach for and grab at the books and even try to turn the pages! This month you also reached a new milestone: passing things from one hand to the other. Daddy saw it first and called me from the other room. I raced down the hall and then Daddy and I just stared at you all bug-eyed and cheesing. You were smiling at us too, but had this look on your face that was all, WHAT.IS.HAPPENING. This month you’ve also started lifting your right leg up in front of you and you just let it hang there while you do other things. I’m not sure what that’s about, but it makes me smile. Last week you tried your first food (bananas!) and Daddy and I were First-Time-Parents EXCITED! without shame. We took pictures at the grocery store and then put the produce sticker from the banana we bought in your baby book that the doctor records important information in. We don’t have a high chair for you yet so you ate your first meal tied to one of our dining room chairs with my hijab. That’s called being resourceful and you didn’t seem bothered by it at all. In fact you seemed to think it was totally normal. Welcome to our family.
