Trying to find a balance between comfort, practicality and style when running errands just got a lot easier.
Who would think that it would be harder for me to pick a shirt for a trip to the the bank than it would be to find a dress to a friend’s wedding? In today’s Webisode of Dress Well I sat down with Kaiyan and Chelsey to chat about the dressing dilemmas we face when it comes to stepping out for just a few minutes. And here’s what the girls had to say on and off camera:
- is looking for comfort
- doesn’t like to wear jeans
- likes big, billowy fabrics and clothes
- loves sneakers
- doesn’t want to waste time picking an outfit
The girls and I chatted for a bit and I put together 2 outfits based on their specifications and some simple style tips I think anyone can follow when running errands.
Focus on comfort. For a quick grocery store run opt for a long skirt or soft cotton pant in place of your guy’s sweats or too-short shorts…yikes!
Add one tailored piece to add to your outfit. This piece is what will take your outfit from “I just rolled out of bed” (even if you did!) to “I know how to achieve effortless style.”
Wear pieces you don’t have to iron. Like Chelsey said there’s no reason to spend more time picking out your outfit than it will take for you to run your errand. This is especially true for those of us that wear hijab. If you’re stepping out for a few minutes swap the hijab you have to iron (even if it’s your favorite) for one that looks just as good without being steamed.
Showcase your personal style. You might brb, but you can still add a little flare to your outfit with a piece of jewelry you love or your favorite pair of sneakers.
