21 days to be better: will you join me?

Over the last 3-ish months I’ve noticed a decline in myself; both in my physical self as well as in my spiritual self. And for the last week or so I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting as to why that is, and then over the weekend I had a new found sense of motivation to change my life; to be the best version of myself I can be. I’m sure many of you have heard that in order to make a change in your life, you have to commit to doing (or not doing) something for 21 days consecutively. It’s been my experience that making a change for a day, or 3 days, or even a week is quite manageable. Usually, when you get to the 9 or 10 day mark is when you start teetering. I’m definitely looking at the next 21 days as a challenge.

Here’s a peek at some of the things I’m going to be working on for the next 3 weeks.

- early morning spiritual meditation
- work out daily with one day to rest
- 21-day sugar cleanse
- take a multivitamin every morning
- don’t say anything hurtful to or about anyone
- write more

All of us have the ability to live our lives better and for this reason I want you guys to help me do this by joining me! Think of the things that will make you an agent for change in your own life. I’ll post about my personal victories and struggles over the next 3 weeks in this space and I’ll be eagerly waiting to hear from all of you. Leave your thoughts and comments here, or as always, you can e-mail me at sabrina@sliceoflemon.com if you’re cut from the shy cloth.

See 21 days sounds so much better than 30 days, and 3 weeks is more manageable sounding. OK, I’ll give it a go!

I must have been on the same wavelength or something because I started TODAY working out more and eating more fruit and veggies since my jeans were a little snug today.

I’m not sure if I could the sugar cleanse but I have settled for one sweet treat a day and then brushing my teeth right after dinner.

So here’s my small list, Oprah. :)

Work out 4 times a week.
    Eat more fruit and veggies.
Count my blessings, not my burdens.
    (taken from a church sign.)
    Read more books.
Brush/floss my teeth right after dinner.

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times” - Nobel laureate, Tawakul Karman, in response to journalists who said her hijab was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education.
