I will learn you, Sweet Potato

Since the Style section is still being refurbished I thought I’d post this here so I could share with you guys (part of) a really awesome anniversary gift my college roommate, Jen sent The Boss and me.

It’s a book called “Sweet Potato Recipes by Home Makers of Virginia’s Eastern Shore,” and that’s exactly what it is.

100 pages of people’s recipes in their own handwriting! Gah! How fun! Now I know ALL THE THINGS I CAN DO WITH A SWEET POTATO, which will hopefully help me redeem myself from my last sweet potato debacle.

It’s also filled with little stories of local ESVA history, which is awesome, and will make me smarter while I cook.

Thanks for your contribution, Mrs. Walker. Can’t wait to try your Sweet Potato Balls!

HA!

Seriously, that’s the page I randomly opened up to.

I want to hug you for your words on the article you posted
” we, I, the Muslim Americans in this country, whether through birth or naturalization were not responsible for the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and it is not fair that we continue to bear the burden of guilt or be made to feel “less American” for the actions of those we didn’t even know.”

    Exactly that!

And thank you for the information I was too lazy to dig up =)

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times” - Nobel laureate, Tawakul Karman, in response to journalists who said her hijab was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education.
