Predictable, Yet Unstoppable

A few months ago, I wrote about these convertible harem pants that I really wanted, and in December, when my mom and baby brother-in-law, “Yousi,” came to visit, Yousi brought some presents with him courtesy of his and The Boss’s mama. I had just gotten home from a pretty intense workout with my physical therapist, when Yousi pulled something out of his suitcase, and goes, “My mom sent this for you.” You Guys! It was the EXACT convertible harem (but in gray) that I had seen at Anthropologie a few months earlier, but from a store in Egypt that MIL swung into while she was visiting her daughter who lives there. I was so excited about my new gift that I held it up to show everyone when my mom goes, “Those look like the pants that MC Hammer used to wear!”

And that’s all it took. The Boss, Yousi and I made eye contact, and the next thing you know, this happened.

P.S. If you listen closely, you can hear my mom scolding gently encouraging me to stop “behaving like a maniac,” though her encouraging words are being drowned out by Yousi’s laughter, which is awesome.

P.P.S. Yousi shared this video (taken with his phone) with his parents when he returned home, and they liked it so much, MIL called me to say she was going to get me another pair in black.

I’ve already started choreographing my next dance.

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times” - Nobel laureate, Tawakul Karman, in response to journalists who said her hijab was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education.
