Decorative Sheet for Home

I got this decorative sheet from India during my first trip there in 1995. My family and I had gone into the local markets to explore, and when I saw this, I loved that it had a ’70s/hippie/vintage vibe, and knew it would look perfect almost anywhere in my room. Over the last 15 years, it’s served in some capacity or another at my parents’ house, or in my bedroom — sometimes as a blanket, other times as a couch cover, and once I took down my curtains to use it as window art. The Boss and I still have (and love) our bed set from Ikea, but we’re currently using this hand-made piece as our bedspread.

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times” - Nobel laureate, Tawakul Karman, in response to journalists who said her hijab was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education.
