Sending Her Mom a Message

A mom is pushing her 5-year-old daughter in a shopping cart.
Stops to look at a sweater.
Picks it up off the rack.
Examines it.
Looks pleased.
Sets the sweater down in the cart next to her daughter.
Kid looks at the sweater, makes unappetizing face, and the following conversation ensues:

Kid: I’m allergic to shirts.

Mom: You’re allergic to shirts?

Kid: Yeah. Allergic.

Mom: Well, that must mean you’re allergic to everything then.

Kid: Well, I’m not allergic to them if they’re pretty.

Oh to be a child again — when you need never fear the backlash of pure, brutal honesty.

As a mom to a big mouthed 3 year old, I can tell you that being on the receiving end of such “pure, brutal honesty” is no fun. The things she says can either make me laugh or cry. Or put her in time out. Depends on my mood.

Sigh, I CAN wait for my toddler to grow up. She’s barely 21 months old and already knows to blame her toots on other people.

I’m guessing mom and daughter don’t really have similar tastes! ^^

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times” - Nobel laureate, Tawakul Karman, in response to journalists who said her hijab was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education.
