Al Fajr Adhan Clock

As a kid, my mom reminded me when it was time to pray, and in college, I had the prayer times printed and taped to my student planners and notebooks. But this Al Fajr adhan clock has made my life much easier. Once you program it for the city you live in (it pretty much covers every major city in the world) it automatically sounds the call to prayer (or the “adhan”) when it’s time to pray. It’s a great reminder during the day when life gets suddenly busy, and for the early morning (before sunrise) prayer because it’s way harder to try and sleep through The Official Call than it is to snooze an alarm clock. Amazing how the human conscious works. I have an adhan program downloaded on my computer as well, which has also proven to be a great help, but it once was the source of one especially awkward moment in my life. When I first started working as a reporter after college, I had to cover a county budget meeting, and although my laptop was in my bag, I guess the computer hadn’t fallen asleep because the adhan went off in front of everyone. Had it been my cell phone, I could have done one of those things where you look around like it’s not you, and pretend to be extra annoyed that someone would be so rude as to leave their cell phone on in a meeting. But the adhan is an entirely different story. I’m pretty sure the girl in the scarf will get blamed for that one everytime.
