How to be a Skater Kid

Rule number one: When you go to the park, you have to take a friend with you.
Why?
Because your friend will do this. And it will breed a little healthy competition.
Next, you have to visualize your next move — spot your target, and don’t look away.
This granite is about to eat some serious skateboard.
You have to be explosive, aggressive, and fearless.
I probably wouldn’t do this. I’d be too afraid of losing a tooth.
A skater kid does not fear for his teeth.
But I’m sure his parents do.
Once you jump, you have to really sell your trick. Getting up there was only half the show.
But sometimes, even when you give it your best shot, things don’t always work out the way you planned.
In order to succeed, a skater kid mustn’t be phased by his fall. Rather, he must dust himself off, pull up his skinny jeans, and try again.
I’m pretty sure Confucius said that.

These are really cool pictures… ahh I’m longing for summer!
OMG. i worry for their teeth too.
What kind of camera do you use?
LOL! my brother is a skater/biker kid, and my parents worry for this teeth, arms, legs, and everything else in the package!
Whatever camera you were using clearly has hella good quality, cus im sure we all know how difficult action shots can be!
impressive..
I wanna take up photography…I always imagine myself going places and then randomly breaking into the zone, crouching in odd positions, and snapping away with my tongue sticking out of the corner of my mouth.
=D
Are you taking pictures of kids now Sabrina?
Do I need to call Chris Hanson?
wow, these pictures are amazing. How did you manage to get the action shots and what camera is this? Such amazing pictures!
Hello,
I have been following your blog for a couple months and although your other posts were notable to comment on, skateboarding has a special place in my heart (as I am a hijabi that skates). I have always been fascinated by the sport(some may argue it to be an art form) and recently decided to pursue it. Your photojournalism above captures the beauty of the sport: a sense of community that grows upon the physical and mental capability of each individual involved.
