A Recap of 2009

It flew.
In January this site went through it’s first design redesign, and though it was a headache at times, it was a joy to see this site take its next step guided by my vision. We spent most of the first weeks of the year mocking one of my college friends who joined the cast of a reality television show, The Boss had a birthday, and we spent about two weeks trying to track down the most horrid smell that had taken over our house.
In February I went to visit my grandmother, Mimmi at the nursing home she lived in, and it wasn’t easy. My sister and I went on a road trip with my dad, and I was finally recognized for being the royalty that I am — but then my mom sucked all the joy out of it. My sister’s bad driving skills were finally made public to the world, and Tylenol almost killed me.
In March a man tried to add to my DNA, The Boss moved to L.A., and after hundreds of inquiries from you guys, we finally filmed a hijab with earrings episode for “The Closet” series.
In April I killed a giant spider, and I think I was being stalked.
In May The Boss came home from L.A. for a visit WITHOUT ANY HAIR, I made a guest appearance at Little BFF’s school for Career Day, and I dug up some old poetry I wrote when I was a kid.
In June Kobe earned his fourth ring, and raised the 15th championship banner for the Los Angeles Lakers. I wrote about my debut as a bride who wears hijab, and I moved to L.A., and then I got Melasma (although no one will admit that I really had that.)
In July The Boss and I celebrated our one-year anniversary at home in our sweats, I started “The Journey Within” series, and I got horribly lost while driving to a job interview.
In August Mimmi said goodbye to this world. I still think about her and miss her often, but I have peace in my heart knowing that she was surrounded by the people she loved during the last months of her life.
In September I got a part-time retail job, and Dwight Howard started following me on twitter, which is definitely something worth noting.
In October Slice of Lemon turned one, and I turned 26. My sister got married (and so did Jim and Pam), I shared my rap skills with the world, The Boss tried to frame me, and I got kind of homesick, and then a 6-year-old girl taught me one of life’s most important lessons.
In November I met The Pioneer Woman, the How to Pray section of this site launched, and I single-handedly destroyed a pie on Thanksgiving.
In December Danny won “The Biggest Loser,” I caused quite a stir after telling an innocent little story about eating frozen yogurt, and you got acquainted with my toaster.
I want to thank you guys for being such a huge part of my life. I wish each and every one of you a very blessed and prosperous 2010 (or 1431 depending on which calendar you follow) and I hope and pray that you are able to accomplish all the goals you set for yourselves this year — even if you didn’t formally write a resolution.
From The Boss, Felix, and myself: Thanks for following us on our crazy journey. Happy Twenty Ten, and God bless.
