Small Wrist Cuff from BCBG

I got this bracelet from the BCBG store back at home on the east coast, and one of the reasons I love it is because it’s a small cuff that actually fits me. I have really small wrists, so it’s hard sometimes to find bracelets that stay put. In college, my friends used to marvel (and mock) at how my hands fit into such tiny bangles, but they fail to realize that my mom is Indian, which means that she’s been squeezing my hands into bangles since I was a kid. If you’re from a South Asian culture, you know that it’s almost freakish how many of us can contort our hands to slide into almost anything. I’m actually planning on taking my talents on the road.

Next up: Getting my hand through the plastic ring that comes off a one liter bottle of soda.

Actually, I can totally relate to the wrist contortion!
My parents are from East Africa, but they too have a love-affair with bangles so as a child…
let’s not bring back the memories.

Bright red wrists after squeezing them through 6 bangles and a single tear. My wrists happen to be small too! Haha, it’s funny because I’m definitely not a small girl (5 foot 9.. I’ll skip my weight)

But bracelets slip off my wrists all the time and if I’m not careful and do some exaggerated hand move… people might get hurt.

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times” - Nobel laureate, Tawakul Karman, in response to journalists who said her hijab was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education.
