This Stuff Was Legit

While driving through a beautiful neighborhood in Brea, Ca., I saw this lemon tree, and nearly died.
It is so beautiful, and I want one.

And then we drove like five blocks, and found these cutie pies.

This is (from left to right) Hannah, Nicole, and Audrey, and they were selling fresh lemonade on the corner so we pulled over to buy some. I got out of the car, and was all, “Is this legit? You guys aren’t selling me store-bought lemonade, are you?” and Nicole was all, “No! We have a lemon tree in my yard!” and then my mom and her cousin poked their heads out of the car and were all, “Oh, Sabrina was taking pictures of your house” and I was all, “Cool, thanks” as if people aren’t already scared of Muslims, and now this girl thinks I was taking pictures of her house. It was obvious that my family was trying to perpetuate hate while they were nestled safely in a car. That way, if these girls started chucking lemons at us, they could drive away, and I’d be left on the sidewalk.
Alone.
And outnumbered.

We bought a few cups, and let me tell you, this stuff was amazing. It was tart, and sweet, and tangy, and flavorful, and absolutely refreshing. I love when people set up lemonade stands. It reminds me of when I was like 8, and my neighbor and I set up a lemonade stand in my driveway. We poured store-bought Minute Maid lemonade, and blue Kool-Aid into cups, told everyone it was homemade, and sold it for $5 during a neighborhood garage sale. It was nearly 102 degrees outside, so we thought we’d provide refreshments for the people who soldiered through the heat to buy other people’s crap, while making a few bucks. We made like $25 before my mom found out what we were doing and shut us down.

Thanks for killing my entrepreneurial spirit, Mom.

You were in my neck of the woods! This area is really awesome like that. Brea, Placentia, Fullerton, all have an incredible community feel.

We have a lemon tree…when lemons are the only thing you see when you walk into the kitchen, the novelty wears off pretty quickly…haha
