My Favorite Bargain Sandals

The last time I was in India, about five years ago, my cousins took me to a market place that had everything from cricket bats to summer dresses. We’d been out and about for a few hours, and everyone bought stuff except for me. As we were headed back to the car, I saw a man with a little shoe shop, and that’s when I saw these sandals and I fell in love. (And no, these aren’t supposed to look like Chanel — only Chanel can look like Chanel, People.) So the owner was trying to sell them to me for like $20 so I made a That’s Crazy face, and walked away. When the group saw me walking toward them empty handed, my cousin knew exactly what happened. She marched over to the man, and scolded him for trying to rip me off. Then she bargained him down to like $3. It was awesome. I wear these all the time, and with pretty much everything. They’re casual and comfy, but my orthopedic doesn’t like that they don’t have “good enough support.” Just don’t tell him about the four six-inch heels I wore to my sister’s wedding. I’ve only just now regained feeling in all five of the toes on my right foot.
(Edit after publish: I measured those heels, and I was wrong. They’re nearly six inches tall, which is probably why I thought my toe was going to fall off after wearing them for 16 hours. Also, I just remembered that I wrote about those shoes here!)
