Contemporary Adjustable Rings

Remember when you were a kid, and you wore adjustable rings?
Remember the ones that had those two metal pieces that didn’t close all the way around your finger, and you were supposed to be able to push them together to make them tighter, or pull them apart to make the ring fit you better?

Well, I hated those when I was a kid.
Okay, ‘hate’ is a strong word, so I’ll say that I strongly disliked them…almost to a point of hate.

Since the metal pieces didn’t close around your finger, those rings would always get caught on my things. They’d rip my clothes, and pull my hair out when I tried to tie a ponytail. They never fit right, and they never really adjusted to fit comfortably. No matter how hard you pushed those ends together, the shape of the ring would just stay as is. I broke many of my childhood adjustable rings by pulling them too far apart as a result of pure frustration. I was so convinced that the whole thing was a scam that I’d push and pull the bars open and closed as hard as I could. And it only took about three times of doing that until the metal cracked. Once that happened, I’d usually wear them as toe rings until the broken metal would scrape my toes so bad, I’d have to stop.

And then, some genius somewhere invented adjustable rings with a contemporary twist.
I wish I knew where this person lived because I would like to send them a thank you card.
And maybe flowers.
Or even chocolate.

I got this ring for the simple reason that (well, aside from being adorable) it can fit on any finger because it’s adjustable — and I’m not talking the annoying ’90s kind of adjustable.

All the little beads are held together with a really strong elastic that stretches so these rings can fit any sized finger comfortably. These rings are available everywhere from Nordstrom to those little kiosks at the mall. And the best part? They’re usually under $10.

I love when I find something that’s as practical as it is stylish.
