Woah, Woah, Woah!

SOL Readers!
Ya’ll are gettin’ crazy, ya’ll!
And that includes The Boss!
We have a serious comment war going on, but I can’t understand what sparked the “I hate Sabrina” comment on such a regular blog post. I mean, if I wrote about politics, war, or some religious conflict, I could totally understand you guys jumping down my throat, or each other’s, but all I could think was, Man, people are getting really mad at the Mississippi River.
A few things.
First, regarding The Boss, I didn’t read his comment until it was posted, and I was all, “You shouldn’t do that,” and then he furrowed his eyebrows and goes, “I’m a reader just like everyone else, so I have just as much right to comment,” which is totally true because he is, and if I don’t stop you guys from commenting, then how and why could I stop him from commenting?
His comment represents his thoughts, and not mine. If I want to say something, I’ll comment as “Slice of Lemon” just like I always do. As far as negative comments about me, or this site go, who said I couldn’t take it? Your comments are still on the site, aren’t they? Besides, when I was in 7th grade, these two Indian women selling toilet paper at the airport in Bombay saw me walk into the bathroom, and not knowing I was also Indian, in Hindi said, “Who let this boy come in here?” and they started laughing.
If I could handle THAT I can totally handle people telling me to get a life, or that they wish I was writing about something they were more interested in.
Also, the year that those women thought I was a boy was also the same year I started wearing eyeliner in hopes that – that would never happen again. Although, I guess if I did look like a boy, and started wearing eyeliner, then I just became a boy who wore eyeliner.
Guess I made little progress in that department.
Moving on.
When it comes to people who tell me they love me, guess what? I love you too! No, not because they said it first, but because they take time out of their day to come to a place that I love so much — this Web site. It means a lot to me that people read. But when it comes to people who tell me they don’t like me (or this site) I just think: As long as I’m not disappointing God, myself, The Boss, my mom, dad, or sister, then I can’t seem to find a place in my heart to care about the people who don’t like me. And I’m super happy to say that all the aforementioned people are totally proud of me. Now, I’m not exactly sure what God thinks of me, but I’m trying, and really hoping that’s gonna count for something.
Obvs, comments are open on these posts, and I’m glad to see that you guys have stuff to say, but even if the First Amendment didn’t exist, the reality is that people would still say what they wanted because we are just selfish creatures who do what we want anyway. I write what I want to write, you say what you want to say, and Felix wears what he wants to wear — which most recently has only been his karate uniform since he just got his yellow belt.
He is so cute.
Bottom line, People: There is a VERY FINE LINE between debating with each other, making constructive remarks (good or bad) about this site, and forgetting how your mama raised you.
Happy commenting/criticizing!
Working without a staff (unless you count Felix),
Sabrina
P.S. Doesn’t everyone’s crap stink? Mine definitely does when I eat tofu, that’s for sure. And I kind of really love tofu.

i may only have a white belt…but I could totally take him…*scowl while channeling inner crouching tiger hidden dragon*
jk. felix sounds fun. he should be friends with Rani (my cat)
Team Sabrina! Jk, I don’t get what the problem is either. I loved this blog from the day I found it. Those who don’t, there’s a little red X in the top right hand corner. Click it.
lol @ “then I just became a boy who wears eyeliner.”
I’m glad you had your say, ’cause things were really getting out of hand. Sabrina, you do you! Don’t worry about what others think of you (and in your case your site too).
I love your blog ever since I found and linked your hijab video in my old blog (beyoutifulhijabi.blogspot.com/).
Wow did I started that war with my negative comment about not coming to America?! I am sorry if I did. For the record I totally love you Sabrina, I can relate to you very well.
Forget about what other people say, you just do your thing!
Whoa! Some people have got major issues. Why the heck are they reading your blog if they don’t like it (or you, which is so hard to believe).
I’ve loved your blog since the day i came across it, keep posting, cause you have an awesome talent, and you know how to make people laugh, most of the time. Lol.
Omg people love drama, and there will always be a few, seriously…if you don’t like the blog then don’t read it.
This blog rocks!
i dont know whats the matter here. everyone is entitled to their own opinion. noone is liked by everyone. that doesnt exist. and people have the rights to voice their opinions without being jumped on with everybody. even if i dont agree with the negative comments about sabrina, i still dont criticize those who write it.
That’s what I say- maybe those people like ” most ” of the blog but dislike some parts if it. So they can’t voice in a COMMENT page their thoughts about those few things and instead be told to leave??? It’s like some cooking something and u saying to them ” it’s just a bit salty, maybe next a little less would taste even better” and everyone else at the dinner party jumping down ur throat ” it’s not salty- it’s great!!, it’s fab, it inspires me, we LOVE it” like Sabrina said ” whoa whoa whoa” calm down and allow another view than urs this isn’t monopoly this is real life!
<3
I just think that some people love drama in their lives and on the internet. Why are they reading this blog if they have a problem with it or its creator? I totally agree with the boss and everything he said. He should have given the guy a virtual look of death and a smack in the head.
Felix = <3
I agree with fa-If someone is opening up their page for comments and welcoming and telling people to read their site, then there will be different opinions across the board. Doesnt mean they should never come back, thats obviously not what the author wants! As long as they arent using profanity or being prejudice/racist then they can speak their minds. What’s wrong with that? Havent any of you ever disliked something and said it aloud? Isnt that what Sabrina advocates??? empowering women to speak out and be bold, but as long as it isnt directed towards her? Thats not fair. So to whoever doesnt like something go ahead, say how you feel, Im not going to make you feel attacked for it. I have been in your shoes before, in class with other students who make you feel bad for a certain viewpoint. The point is to share- not SCARE!
Sabrina, the blog is looking good (especially that logo). The (very amusing) comment wars will also just help grow the popularity of the site because people will see HUGE amounts of comments and be interested just based on that alone. My guess is that the violent nature of the “If You Touch Felix, Be Prepared to Die” headline must’ve sparked off the war.
p.s. Don’t track my IP address!
Bottom line, People: There is a VERY FINE LINE between debating with each other, and forgetting how your mama raised you.
Well said. ?
LOL, that was supposed to be a heart, not a question mark
<3
whatever some weirdos may say I love sabrina.
And her blog.
You are awesome.
Stay true to yourself and you can never go wrong.
Love and support always, roomie.
As a mother of four young children, I have my share of stressfull days. But I always make time for you Sabrina. SliceofLemon relaxes me and makes me laugh. I do not want to read a boring, serious blog. I like you because, as an American Muslim, I can relate to you on a lot of topics, and I like your sense of humor and your photos are great. Oh and I love your hijab style! Light and funny. Keep it up!
P.S. I love how your husband stood up for you!
I Lovee slice of lemon!! I wish u posted sat n sunday 2 lol…Just thought id let u kno :p x
I know about 18 other people have already told you this but….
I love your blog. Keep up the great work! I read it every day
I’m gone for the weekend and this entire war happens?!
I always visit your blog, I don’t always comment, but I always come back to read the new entry :]
You inspire this high schooler, and I still use the MUG!
Insha’Allah you’ll have a safe trip back!
I love this blog! You have a wonderful sense of humor I always know I will get a good laugh when I visit slice of lemon. Keep up the good work!
wow what a drama! Anyway I think we can all agree that criticism and debate are great, so long as they are CONSTRUCTIVE:D
However judging from the number of comments on the previous post, the blog is proof that there is no such thing as bad publicity!
I love that fact this is a lighthearted blog
Keep up the good work
I think in Blogistan you cannot show you are taking it personally. Its gonna happen. No matter who you are and what you do. People as you said just have the right to voice opinions about your style. And seems as though it was about the style of your blog and not you personally. If I am not mistaken it was said that you dont know most of people on here. So people on either side or just voicing opinions. Have thick skin.
Although I agree (like Leslie said), it’s important to have thick skin, especially when putting yourself out there with a website like this, it’s not fair to assume that simply because one runs a website they’re fair game to get attacked. From what I read of the previous post’s comments, it was not only Sabrina’s style that was getting attacked, but her sense of humour, her value (as an employee), etc. Having run a personal site for a number of years in the past, I know that you can’t let ‘anonymous’ people who visit really get to you, but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt at all.
I agree with Leslie as well. No one says criticism doesnt hurt. Who here hasnt been criticized in life? Its a tough pill to swallow. Sabrina may not have responded much, but the readers who were attacking the “haters” views werent regulated or stopped by her either. All she said was -Ya’ll this is getting crazy! or something to that effect.
I know tons of peoples with blogs and they have been in similar situations & they handled it by actually defending their opposition and saying -hey guys Im feeling all the love and support but dont attack my other fellow readers or put them down cuz they are still my readers and thats important to me.
Overall, this is getting old but that was ma 2 Cents
Exactly Benish. It was worse to see the name calling than the initial ” view” of one reader. Who in my opinion didnt say anything harsh. PEACE ON>>>>
))
Ok… my last post about this. And hope it doesnt urk the owner of the blog for me posting again and again
)) but if the worse thing one can say on your blog is you have a horrible sense of humor, or lack of sense of humor, or you are very self indulged…. than you have dodged alot of far worse bullets.
holy drama!
)
This IS getting old, but since everyone seems to be giving 2 cents, I’m giving mine too!
I think “Joy” has the right to give her opinion, but she could have done in a more polite manner, as constructive criticism. If you don’t like a site or don’t think you are getting what you want from it, be it information or a funny story, then do not read it!
Now, if the comments section is open to the readers, I think the author (and TB) really don’t have to spend time defending themselves. Try not to take it personally. From the thousands of people that visit your site (or meet you in person), there will be a few that may not like you so what? Is TB gonna write back every time to defend you? I agree with Leslie – it’s Blogistan, you are exposing part of your life and thoughts to the public. You will have to deal with criticism, fair or not. TB, don’t take it personally. 1 unfriendly negative comment, but your readership is still the same. You can still write about what you like and people are still interested and reading it…so why all the drama!!??
Have a great evening everyone…

As a fellow blogger, I thought this would be helpful for future reference.
SOL makes me smile, think and laugh. My mama taught me to appreciate things like that, and to say thank you.
Thanks, Sabrina!
Whatever.
We all rock in our own way and if people don’t like it, they can go stuff it.
