A few months ago, my legs started to get super itchy for no apparent reason. I hadn’t changed my body wash, or lotion, or used any new products, so I washed all my sheets, and towels, and clothes that I had worn recently, and racked my brain trying to figure out where this new found “allergy” had come from. There was no rash, no redness, and no visible dryness, which left me totally dumbfounded. At one point, I scratched my legs so much in my sleep, I actually woke up with welts on my thighs and those little purplish bruise-like marks you get when you’ve just broken the skin. In fact, my excessive itching actually prompted The Boss to yell at me for like, the first time ever. I was laying in bed, digging my nails into my legs when he goes, “No! Stop scratching!” I froze mid-scratch, and just looked at him. Realizing that he actually yelled, he kind of did this awkward laugh, and goes, “Oops. It’s called tough love.”

Over the past few weeks, I’ve tried everything — olive oil, baby power, over-the-counter cortisone cream — The Boss even put ice packs on my legs to try and numb the itching. Then, the other day I went to CVS, and found this lotion, and I swear, it’s been like a God-send to my poor little legs. I think it’s the oatmeal in the stuff that has really done the trick, and the only diagnosis I can come up with is the heat in L.A. being so dry unlike back in Northern Virginia where we always have some moisture in the air, even on the hottest days.

So far, the itch is almost non-existent, but I plan on having a doctor check me out when I head back home for my sister’s wedding — just in case a swarm of bees implanted themselves under my skin while I was sleeping, and have spent the last two months making honey, and having babies.

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times” - Nobel laureate, Tawakul Karman, in response to journalists who said her hijab was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education.
