Recycled Newspaper Baskets

On Sunday, The Boss and I went to Pier 1 Imports looking for small baskets that we could use for storage, specifically for under the sink in our bathroom. We were scanning the willow, bamboo and straw collections when we spotted these Recycled Newspaper Baskets and this Recycled Newspaper Magazine Basket.

We’re using the smaller two baskets to house vanity products, and the magazine basket to store all the speeding and parking tickets The Boss accumulated while living in L.A. for three months before I got here.

Love the baskets – but one problem. What if they get soaking wet?
Hi Iman. I thought of that too, so to avoid the baskets from getting soaked, we put them in a place where that couldn’t happen. And by that I mean that we put them UNDER A SINK, RIGHT NEXT TO A HUGE WATER PIPE:)
That’s the most original thing I’ve seen eva.
Those look so cute! I get really excited about storage in general, and when it looks cute and original it’s even better!

We usually use simple plastic bins from target for clorox type cleaning supplies stored under the sink and vanity we store in vanity cupboards like ones from BBB-

Hi Nadhia, We’ll try to pick up with The Closet again sometime toward the end of the year. Settling into L.A., and finding a new team will likely take a few months, but we’re hoping it won’t be too long before we’re up and running once again!
Salam Sabrina,

Mashallah! I think you could pitch these to the Container Store and make millions. The only concern: Do they yellow as all papers do over time?
i used to make basket like that when i was back in primary school.
long loooong time ago.
my sweet art teacher taught my friends and i how to make a swan shaped basket, like those you have but in a shape of a swan,
cool stuff only my friend used mine as a candle holder, so it’s gone now, *sigh*

Hi Lisa. I don’t know if Pier 1 would want The Container Store to snag their idea;) But I wouldn’t be surprised if TCS had similar products. I’m not sure if they’ll turn yellow over time, but I’ll keep you posted!

I really like this blog
Lol, I favorited your blog. It always makes my day! But I never got to ask you why you call your husband “the boss”. I get its for anonymity, but why the nickname “the boss”?

I actually have something similar from the Container Store. I got them a few months ago and they haven’t turned yellow yet…I hide my Wii remotes and games in them so my living room looks like real grown-ups live there
Hi Amina. No one has ever asked me that:) I might post about it one of these days, so stay tuned!
