This is what happens when your dad mixes Tostitos chips in with the bird feed

This is my pet squirrel.
His name is Bluebird Wears Stirrup Pants.
I call him Bluebird for short.
And he likes to play in my backyard.

s1

I try not to make eye contact with him because he scares me.
But I know he likes me because he climbs onto the deck and lays in the sun while I eat my breakfast.
He flicks his tail, which I’m pretty sure means, “Hey Sabrina! You look so cute when you eat breakfast in your pajamas!”

UPDATE: Squirrel.org says, “The most common tail gesture is the “flicking” which means ‘get away!’”

s2

Bluebird has been gone for a while. He ate A LOT last fall (to prepare for the winter months) and when I saw him a few times after the weather got cold, he was FAT! He gained like three pounds! That might not sound like a lot, but when you’re smaller than a football, three pounds merits paparazzi photos and a blog about your fat butt.

s3

Aww, but look how skinny he’s gotten. Go ahead, Bluebird, eat to your heart’s content.
This is part of Bluebird’s routine. He sails up that post and dives for the bird feeder.
He’s been gone for a few months so I wonder if he remembers that the feeder swings.

s4

Uh…uh…

s5

Guess he forgot.

s6

But Bluebird is resilient, isn’t he?

s8

Look at how Bluebird throws his tail to the other side of the feeder.
He does that for balance.
I’m going to take him to the circus with me and exploit him for my own personal gain.
It’s one of my many get-rich-quick schemes.

Actually, it’s my only one. I just made it up right this second.

And I’m pretty sure it won’t work.

s7

After I was done taking these pictures, I went outside so I could put a collar on him and take him for a walk.
And he bit my finger off. Well, he didn’t really bite my finger off, he just flicked his tail, which scared me enough to run back in the house screaming for my mom who wasn’t home so I just screamed by myself for a few minutes and then decided to post this.

P.S. I’m scared of squirrels.
P.P.S. I’m probably going to give Bluebird up for adoption.
P.P.P.S. I can’t find Bluebird.
P.P.P.P.S. Anyone seen Bluebird? I’d still like to take him to the circus.

    LOL
I’m deathly afraid of squirrels ever since they attacked my backyard ._.

I even caught it on my camera. They wouldn’t let go of the screen door….

But if you’re ever looking for a mate for Bluebird, I could always give you Skippy/Thor (the Squirrel Queen for your King) for free.

    Shipping and Handling not included.

Aww, look at his wee red face! I love squirrels, but sometimes I see them out of the corner of my eye and nearly freak out ‘cos I think it’s a rat. I’ll never forget the time a squirrel that was fleeing from a cat ran up my mum’s trouser leg hahaha

“And he bit my finger off.
Well, he didn’t really bite my finger off.”

    Hahahahaha

    i love his name.

and please(even if it’s for our entertainment) seriously, don’t try to pick him up. he could scratch your eyes out, have diseases or try to mug you.

Lolzzzz…luved it..:) I really want a pet squirrel now! so perfect, a touch of nature ( so fun to watch), without the desire for personal connection.

    lol!
some great pics of the cute lil squirrel in action!

i’d say stick with keeping the bird feeder full and saying ur goodbyes to this furball b4 heading off to cali.. cuz u never know when this cute lil sucker would bite someone, giving em rabies and u’ll get sued and all that ‘quick’ money u made will be gone i tell you :P

Hahaha crazy squirrel! Personally, I like squirrels but am afraid of birds…
DC black squirrels are the coolest though!
