Every time I get my hair cut, I ask my hairdresser how business is.
As of late, she told me that her regular clients are still coming in, but with the recession, they come in less frequently. Her vendors have nearly doubled the price of all their products, from shampoo to hair color, but she hasn’t changed her prices since her salon opened. She said it’s not fair to make her clients suffer, even though she is getting closer and closer to breaking even — which is totally not what you want to happen when you run your own small business. Or have a new baby.

A lot of her clients, she said, have started buying salon shampoos and other products (which apparently giant retailers are not supposed to sell) because they are less expensive, which actually hurts her business more.

Alright.
I need to come clean.
I’m guilty of the doing the same thing.

Ever since I quit my job in October, I’ve been buying my shampoo from the drug store because it was like $6 cheaper than the salon price. I didn’t realize that doing that could actually hurt small business owners like my hairdresser.

So after I finished my last bottle of shampoo, I decided to get something from my salon. I was also ready to change shampoos, so my hair dresser suggested I buy KMS California Silk Sheen Shampoo.
I’ve been using this product for over a month now, and I really like it. It minimizes frizz and makes my hair feel weightless, clean and so super soft, you’d think there was a baby’s butt attached to my head.
They have a whole line of stuff, so if you’re not sure which product(s) would be best for your hair, talk to your hair dresser, or check out the KMS Web site.

And guess what, ya’ll? My new shampoo cost me $4 less than what I was paying at the drug store, which means that everybody wins!

I love a happy ending.

I just wanted you to know that at the thought of a baby’s butt attached to your head, I laughed so hard that I actually fell out of my desk chair. Good thing everyone else has already left the office…
