Some of My Best Work

We’ve been trying to clean out the garage at my mom’s house for like, 10 years — no, longer than that. My family used to live in Germany and we moved back to U.S. in 1997, which actually means that we’ve had untouched boxes sitting in our garage for 12 years. At this point, I think we’re all afraid to see what’s inside, lest we find chicken heads, dead bunnies, and rats that make the ones on my college campus look like baby hamsters.
What? You say you’re from New York City and you have huge city rats? Well, you should try the sewer rats in Virginia Beach on for size — a girl visiting our campus once tried to pet one of those things thinking it was a cat and nearly lost her whole arm, shoulder and corroded artery.
Admittedly, most of the stuff stored away in the garage from our Germany days belongs to my sister and me. And in addition to all of that stuff, she and I also piled all the excess crap we had while away at college into the garage when we moved home.
If you’ve ever done a garage cleanup, you know that it’s like a universal rule that you have to talk about cleaning for at least five years before you actually do anything.
Well, we’re way past the five-year mark.
Over the weekend, I popped into the garage to get an idea of how long it would take me to sort through all my stuff, and that’s when I found a book of poems I wrote in 4th grade, which naturally, I’ve decided to share with you.
Here I am, World — in all my 9-year-old glory!
Wow. Vain much?

A philosophical view on human relationships.

Write. Written. Wrote.
Wow, good grammar.
