Over and Out

Helloooo Readers,

The last time we filmed an episode of The Closet, we had a little debacle with the video camera — it basically stopped working. Luckily, we made it though the “Hijab With Earrings” episode, but the episode for May was captured in a series of photographs; we skipped shooting in April. The Closet won’t be its usual self this month, but please bear with me as we break down The Closet and move across the country. My hope is to pick back up over the summer.

Meanwhile, we are working on a little something for Monday, but for now, I’m off for a Day of Fun with Little BFF who is my cousin’s 8-year-old daughter. During a free-writing in school a few months ago, the little cutie wrote about her hero: Me! So I go, “What did you write?” and she goes, “I wrote that you were my best, best, best, best, best, best, best, best…”

“How many times did you write ‘best’?” I interrupted.

“Oh, until there was no more room on the paper, and then I had to turn it over and write ‘friend’,” she said. “And then I wrote, ‘and she’s 26.’”

“I’m 25″

“Uh. Oops.”

I know, she’s awesome.

While I’m off to enjoy sushi, ice cream, some T-shirt making and a picnic (which has to be moved indoors because of the rain) with my coolest girlfriend, I’ve linked to some other blogs you should check out today.

Check out the coming of spring (before all the rain) from Shawna of The Days are Packed.

Because all of us secretly root for the underdog, check out Danny’s post at Dad Gone Mad.

For beautiful photographs and heartfelt posts, check out Ryan at Pacing the Panic Room.

I don’t know any other way to describe Jenny from The Bloggess other than HILARIOUS!
(Please note that she has a very inclusive vocabulary, so click her at your own risk!)

Happy Friday, ya’ll!

UPDATE: Bummer. Like, big time.

So I went to go get my Little Bff from school and I was like, a major superstar at her little private Islamic academy. As we’re getting ready to go, Little Bff swaps her hijab for a pink headband in the bathroom and tells me she wasn’t feeling well in the morning. I asked her if she was still up for lunch and she said she was feeling a lot better so we headed off to a local sushi restaurant. We had just placed our order and were talking and laughing, when all of a sudden she was like, “I think I have to throw up,” and I was all, “Oh crap, let me call your mom because I’m not good at things like that.” Bottom line, we had to have our food boxed and our Day of Fun was cut short. I gave her a mint to suck on to alleviate the nausea on the car ride home, handed her a reusable grocery bag, and was like, “In case you have to throw up, use this,” and she was like, “Huh?” and I was like, “Well, I don’t have any plastic bags in here.”

I dropped her off at home and then my mom, sister and I went to get ice cream. I was bummed that Little Bff couldn’t hang, but the sun started coming through the clouds while we were outside, so it turned out to be a pretty nice day after all.

Wow! Thanks for the link! Such a compliment since you have impeccable taste. I’ll be offering the middle pic as a print on canvas on http://www.sunlitphoto.com/ soon along with the one I posted today insha’Allah. Remember me when you decorate your new place! :P

Happy trails as you get on the move! I’m so excited for you. My in-laws have been back in IN for two years since a four year stay in sunny Thousand Oaks. It was beautiful out there. :)
