A perfectly long tank

shirt1

While I was at my aunt’s house visiting my grandmother last week, all of the family took turns getting out of the house while someone stayed with my grandmother. It was a really nice way to get a breath of fresh air and have some time alone. When it was my turn to take a few hours away, I went for a drive and ended up at Target. Shopping is probably the worst form of therapy, but when I saw this racerback tank dress I nearly gasped in excitement.

About three years ago, Urban Outfitters was selling really long tanks and shirts, which I bought and wore all the time. When I went to buy more, after realizing just how much use I was getting out of them, they were gone — and they didn’t have any on line either.
By now, you’d think I’d have learned my lesson to buy two of something I really love, since everything I love gets discontinued or sold out, but I always feel like that’s just being really greedy and compulsive.

But when I saw these long tanks, I knew that they would be well used, so I ended up getting a few in different colors. They are perfect for layering, good for warm weather, and look casually Fab with my herem pants. (Yes, I wear them, and I love them. They remind me of the Indian outfits my mom used to put me in when I was little.)

Since these tanks are 100 percent cotton, I bought mine one size bigger than I normally wear because they’re bound to shrink. If you’re tiny, you could always cut about four inches off the bottom so it hits at a place that you’re comfortable with.

Bottom line: BUY THESE. And maybe even buy two.

Buying two of everything isn’t recession friendly advice. For shame.

(However, being a girl, I secretly applaud you.)

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times” - Nobel laureate, Tawakul Karman, in response to journalists who said her hijab was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education.
