Excuse me while I go make a sandwich

Every time I talk to my best friend, Tina, I always ask her about her day.
And this is how our conversation goes.

Me: How was your day?
Tina: Eh.
Tina: What about you?
Me: Well you know, every day is Saturday in my world.
Tina: little chuckle, which sounds like she wants to kick me in the shin.
Tina: Oh yeah.

Hey, I’m busy too! Stop judging me! (Tina) Just because I work from home, doesn’t mean I’m sitting in my sweat pants, surrounded by dirty dishes, and eating handfuls of chocolate chips.

Uh…maybe we should change the subject.

Since I started working from home, I have found it increasingly difficult to stay on task. Take this very moment, for example. It should have taken me 15 minutes to write today’s post. But instead, it’s taken me more than two hours because I’m checking my e-mail, and walking around, and getting lunch, and browsing the Internet. Actually, come to think of it, that’s kind of how my regular workday went when I had a normal job. Bottom line, I am really good at time management when I have a lot to do. I just started writing as the L.A. Muslim Women’s Style Examiner for examiner.com, which is great because maybe now I’ll finally have time to clean out the cabinets at home! Woo!

Well, that’s all I have for you today, kids. Now I’m going to see how long I can hold my breath while I spin in a circle with my eyes closed — and at some point I’ll see if I can use the little toe on my right foot to hit “publish.”

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times” - Nobel laureate, Tawakul Karman, in response to journalists who said her hijab was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education.
