Just A Heads Up

On the phone with my cousin who lives in San Diego:

Wait, hold on. I’m gonna have to ask you to hold on.
I’m braking on the highway. It doesn’t make any sense. Has anyone told you about the California traffic? You’ll know when you get here that drivers in Southern California suck. And it doesn’t make any sense. At least when you’re in the D.C. area you know that everyone is thinking about themselves, and you can work around that.
But out here, there is no logic to their suckiness.

(I love her.)

Haha… I was in the Bay Area in Feb and I was pleasantly surprised by the way Northern Californians drive. Not as bad as Memphis drivers, it seems. But she’s probably right about S. California drivers. Good luck!

I’ve never been out there but I know on the rural roads where I live I’ve passed a dude (true story!) reading the newspaper while driving!

Maybe when the traffic slowed down on the interstate, everyone had to turn the page?
    Just a guess.

Yes, traffic here is bad especially in LA. Just a warning, you do not want to speed in LA. They are like hawkes hunting down innocent field mice (or not so innocent). Orange County is a little more lenient on the speed thing. Traffic is only truly bad during rush hour because everyone has the brilliant idea to congregate on the freeways after work. Otherwise, it’s pretty smooth sailing except if you are driving to LA (which I don’t do that often).

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times” - Nobel laureate, Tawakul Karman, in response to journalists who said her hijab was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education.
