Thank you, Miss Tennessee!
I think the next picture you send us will have to be of you…in your Betty Boop scrubs!

1. Flashlights. I am convinced that one day, the electricity will go out in my apartment in the middle of the night, and I will be alone and scared. For that reason, I have two flashlights on my desk (right next to my bed). The batteries in both, unfortunately, are dead.

2. A really nice desk lamp. I stole it from work. Well, not technically. My boss said that they’d otherwise just throw it out, so I made the sacrifice of hiding it in a tote bag and walking out with it at the end of the day.

3. A cute little lamp that my good friend gave me. She’s from the DC area, where people are favored enough by God to have an Ikea. We don’t have one here. But it was an Eid gift from her last year. I use it all the time.

4. HEM “Precious Gulab” rose incense sticks. I LOVE these! This is the best incense ever, I think.

5. A bag from one of my favorite stores. Charlotte Russe is THE store where I get most of my accessories, particularly earrings. The 2 for $8 deal is great.

6. A cigar box. I went to High Point, NC a few years ago to do an “Alternative Spring Break” with Habitat for Humanity. Their H4H had its own consignment/thrift store, and I saw this there. I store pencils, pens, and other knick-knacks in it.

7. A Bluetooth. I think I may be the last person in the world to buy a Bluetooth. I don’t know what took me so long. This thing is great. I’m not sure why it’s on my desk and not in my ear.

8. My socks. At work, my coworkers have a running joke about my always wearing “Sexy Socks.” They’re actually pretty silly socks, but they’re usually knee-length and colorful, which amuses my coworkers. They bought me these socks for Valentine’s Day which say “I’m too sexy for my socks.”

9. Things that I need to unpack. I went to the Bay Area a couple weeks ago, and I STILL have not unpacked everything. I bought this hiking backpack pre-trip in order to avoid having to check a bag and pay $15. I ended up buying a bag in San Francisco from a cute Panamanian guy and checking the hiking bag on my way back home. Oh, well.

10. Betty Boop scrubs. I work in healthcare where scrubs are a well-loved cultural phenomenon. I’m not a nurse, but I dress like one often. These are particularly special, as people always compliment me on how “cuuuute” they are. I also have flamingos and monkeys.

11. Hand sanitizer. Being in healthcare, I always try to make sure I have some on my person at all times. My non-healthcare friends think that I’m a germiphobe. I think that I’m just keeping myself from getting dysentery.

12. A picture of an African-American mother and daughter. My mother gave it to me when I was younger. It’s beautiful. I wish I could have caught it better in the shot.
