It Was a Hot Day

Photogs will tell you that a rule of thumb when photographing children, is to shoot from the eye-level of the child. But I tend not to be big on following rules, and I think this picture is a great example of why it’s okay to do what feels right.

My sister took this picture of our nephew at the park during the summer, and the angle from which she took the picture, in my opinion, was perfect. Because she was standing, you can really tell just how small this little boy is, and what an adventure the park must look like to him — I mean, check out the intensity in his eyes — the slide must look huge when you’re less than three feet tall.

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times” - Nobel laureate, Tawakul Karman, in response to journalists who said her hijab was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education.
