Sometimes, You Just Need a Time Out

Since starting this Web site, I’ve used it as a platform to share my life with strangers.
I use this blog as an outlet to keep myself writing, and as a safe zone, where I can vent, and leave a few hours later with my sanity intact.

But something I didn’t think about when I started this site, was that aside from the people I don’t know that visit, the people I love, will read my posts, too.
And even though there are times when the people I love make me want to poke my eyes out, they are still the people I love — and the people I would never want to hurt.

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to receive a very insightful e-mail from someone who loves me, and it forced me to take a little time out, sit in the corner with my dunce cap on, and have a little talk with myself about boundaries.

I often complain in my posts about other people not knowing when they’ve crossed a line, so consider this a post about me, shaking a finger in my own face.

I believe in the power of words, and that’s why I became a writer.
From now on, I promise to use mine, only for good.

“Man in the early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what I’m wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It’s the removal of clothes again that is regressive back to ancient times” - Nobel laureate, Tawakul Karman, in response to journalists who said her hijab was not proportionate with her level of intellect and education.
